...Where journey becomes life

This is the result of an ambitious project born in 1995, when I just wanted to make some routes known across the region. Eventually 30 have come out, with 5.200 km. and 300 villages visited, besides a thorough compilation of practical data.

EXTREMADURA EN BICI is not just a book for cyclist and cyclotourists, it´s a different way of getting to know Estremadura and its surroundings.

As you can see, the 30 routes cover the entirety of the land and are located very near toone another, so as to make "à la carte" plans possible.

1. IRRIGATION CHANNELS

They appear in the first place because they are plain and more accessible. You´ll find how to cross the province of Badajoz from east to west along the channels. More than 200 kilometres without cars.

1. Dehesas Channel
2. Orellana Channel
3. Zújar Channel
4. Montijo Channel

2. ON THE PORTUGUESE BORDER

The guides of a region don´t normally go beyond limits. It is not the case here. 4 routes go over both sides of the Spanish-Portuguese border and their contrasts.

5. Badajoz-Alburquerque
6. Dolmens route
7. Guadiana international
8. Alcantara lands
9. Sierra de San Pedro

3. RANGES OF THE NORTH OF CACERES

These 4 routes include La Vera y El Jerte. They are linked and they come into Salamanca province.

10. Sierra de Gata I
11. Hurdes and Sierra de Gata II
12. Ambroz and Jerte Valleys
13. La Vera
14. Alagon Valley

4. THE EAST

The Eastern area of Estremadura presents most attractions due to its mountain ranges and deserted extensions.

15. Ibores
16. Villuercas
17. Around Cijara
18. Pela-Valdecaballeros
19. From Castuera to Belalcazar
20. Siberia

5. SOUTH OF BADAJOZ

Among Estremadura, Andalusia and Portugal, these 4 routes take us into a beautiful but unknown area.

21. Hills and plains of the Northwest of Zafra.
22. Zafra and Southern pastureland
23. Sierra Morena
24. Azuaga area

6. THE CENTRE

Ecological and architectonical treasures in Estremadura: natural parks and World Heritage cities.

25. Trujillo and Montánchez
26. Monfragüe

This badge goes with the book as a gift. It can be fixed to the car rear window in order to make people aware of the importance of respecting cyclists.
